Mechanomyography and Force Relationship during Concentric and Eccentric Contractions of the Vastus Lateralis in the Sprinters

چکیده
INTRODUCTION It has been investigated the mechanomyographic (MMG) signal may respond linear [1] or non-linear [3] relationship with force development Different relationship depends on contraction types, force levels, angular velocities and the muscles studied [1, 3]. Studies suggested that the MMG properties may also differentiate muscle fiber types [5]. The purpose of this study was to investigate the MMG and EMG (electromyographic) amplitude responses of vastus lateralis to different force levels during concentric and eccentric contractions in the sprinters.

Activation of Antagonist Knee Muscles During Isokinetic Efforts in Prepubertal and Adult Males
The deficit of muscle-force production observed in children can be partly attributed to neural factors, such as an increased level of coactivation. This hypothesis, however, has not been thoroughly investigated under concentric and eccentric isokinetic conditions at different angular velocities. Thus, the purpose of this study was to examine whether prepubescent children present higher levels o...
متن کاملNeural inhibition during maximal eccentric and concentric quadriceps contraction: effects of resistance training.
Despite full voluntary effort, neuromuscular activation of the quadriceps femoris muscle appears inhibited during slow concentric and eccentric contractions. Our aim was to compare neuromuscular activation during maximal voluntary concentric and eccentric quadriceps contractions, hypothesizing that inhibition of neuromuscular activation diminishes with resistance training. In 15 men, pretrainin...
متن کاملMaximal lengthening contractions increase p70 S6 kinase phosphorylation in human skeletal muscle in the absence of nutritional supply.
The aim of this study was to compare the training stimuli of eccentric (lengthening) and concentric (shortening) contractions regarding the effect on signaling enzymes involved in protein synthesis. Ten male subjects performed 4 x 6 maximal eccentric contractions on one leg followed by 4 x 6 maximal concentric contractions on the other. Six additional subjects performed the same protocol, but w...
متن کاملIn vivo muscle function vs speed. I. Muscle strain in relation to length change of the muscle-tendon unit.
The activity of muscles can be concentric (shortening), eccentric (lengthening) or isometric (constant length). When studying muscle function it is important to know what the muscle fascicles are actually doing because the performance of muscle is strongly influenced by the type of activity: force decreases as a function of shortening velocity during concentric contractions; force produced duri...
متن کامل[Article] Electrical Manifestations of Muscle Fatigue During Concentric and Eccentric Isokinetic Knee Flexion-Extension Movements
The quantification of the progression of muscle fatigue during a sustained contraction is a valuable tool in several clinical applications, ranging from the evaluation of functional impairment to the development of specific rehabilitative and training protocols. In these fields, great importance is given to isokinetic contractions. The aim of this work was twofold: first, to propose signal proc...
